Submission Guidelines
for short fiction
What we are looking for
We are looking for character driven supernatural and psychological dark fiction, horror, and dark fantasy. We're interested in atmospheric, disturbing tales.
Beginning and unpublished writers are welcome as well as established writers.
Stories should preferably be between 500 and 4000 words, though we are flexible on length.
How to submit
All submissions should be sent to .
- Paste your story into the body of the email with SUBMISSION: Your Story Title in the subject line. No attachments, please.
- Single spaced, two returns between paragraphs.
- Include a brief blurb about the story (a few short sentences).
- If you wish, include your bio in third-person, up to 200 words, give or take. You can include links and your email address.
Simultaneous submissions are fine, though please let us know as soon as possible if your story is accepted elsewhere.
Reprints
Previously published material must include full information on when/where it
appeared so proper acknowledgements can be given.
If your work has been previously published, it may not be eligible to be showcased here, so please check with the current/previous publisher. We cannot be responsible for any and all legal claims which may arise as a result of your work being included in or showcased at www.crimsonhighway.com.
Rights
We ask for Non-exclusive, One-time Electronic (World Wide Web) Publishing rights to publish your work on our website for a one month period specified by the cover date of the issue. These rights will revert back to you once the story has been published. Crimson Highway and the authors will exchange a simple contract via e-mail.
We will archive the story on crimsonhighway.com indefinitely and we will remove an item from our archives at the author's request. We undertake to comply with such a request within two weeks.
Copyright remains yours at all times.
Response Time
Please allow 3-4 weeks response time. Please feel free to notify us if you have not been contacted with a rejection or acceptance this time.
Payment
We are a "4theluv" market at this time. Hopefully that will change in the near future.
